Do You Have To Be Transitioning Off Of Medifast In Order To Have Access To The Maintenance Bars?

I sometimes hear from folks who are interested in the Medifast maintenance bars when they have only just begun the diet. Often, they figure that they need to be on the maintenance or transition part of the plan in order to enjoy this menu item. The problem is, most people don't reach this point on the diet until they have met all of their weight loss goals. And that can take weeks or months, depending upon how much weight you have to lose.

I heard from someone who said: "I have only been on Medifast for a couple of weeks. The other day I was browsing the company website when I saw the maintenance bars. I have read that these are very tasty and filling and I would like to order some. But I am wondering if they are allowed for people who aren't yet on the transition plan? I'm worried that they are off limits for me." I will answer this below.
Anyone can order the maintenance bars. And yes, they are very good. In fact, the caramel maintenance bar is one of the most popular items on the menu. Frankly, it has the texture and taste of a chewy and decadent dessert and it is pretty obvious why people like it. There is one slight catch with this item though. You can't have up to five of these in the way that you can with the crunch bars, the shakes, or any of the other menu items that you can mix and match as long as you eat give per day. When you are talking about the maintenance bars, you can have up to one per day. And the reason that these are limited is that they are a bit higher in calories and carbohydrates than the other items. (For example, the very popular caramel nut bar has 170 calories, 22 grams of carbohydrates and 11 grams of sugar. In contrast the caramel crunch bar has only 110 calories, 12 grams of carbohydrates, and 2 grams of sugars.) So you can see why the crunch bars are not as limited. Many people save the maintenance bars for after work out or as a treat after a long day or as a decadent dessert.
But to answer the concern posed, no, you absolutely don't have to be transitioning off the diet in order to be able to have the maintenance bars. You can order them any time you like. Many people still have them for a snack long after they are off the diet because they can become a habit or favorite snack over time.
