Let's face it. We are all going to age. It is a fact of existence. Stay long enough and you will age.
But we don't have to age gracefully. We can fight back.
I want to discuss aging and the use of vitamins.
To fight back we need to discipline ourselves to eat right and get the right nutrients in our body. The body will thankfully respond to what you put in it to work with.
When we fight back with our diet there is a problem. It is basically this: food that we eat may not give us all the nutrients we need to fight aging. Because of the growing process of our food and the over production of the ground we deplete the natural nutrients in the ground. This causes deficient produce. Even produce procured at the farmers markets are not completely nutrient restorative.
This is where vitamin supplements come into play. Vitamins are chemical substances that may or may not be produced in our bodies. For example we can turn sunshine that we get on our bodies into Vitamin D. The problem is that most of us have indoor jobs and won't be able to get enough sunshine for our bodies to turn into the vitamin D. So we should seek supplementation.
But most substances we can not manufacture in our bodies. We need help and that is where these pills or liquids come in.
They are not instant food replacements. They mimic many of our physiological processes which are basically complicated chemical processes. They can't guarantee anyone instant energy or youth or good health. But deficiencies of vitamins do lead to many specific symptoms and disorders somewhat harmful to the quality of life

Vitamins as we know them are water soluble and fat soluble. This only means that some are stored in the fat we have and others are passed out in our urine.

When we talk about vitamins that should be taken for general health we can safely say the following are good:

What would a lack look like?
· An absence of Beta-Carotene or vitamin A would result over time with impaired brain development and impaired night vision. High doses can cause osteoporosis

· Vitamin B12 deficiency could bring about abnormalities in the nerves responsible for walking and sensation.

· Coenzyme Q-10 does its work as an antioxidant where it inhibits degenerative processes such as heart disease. It also fights gum disease.
· Folic Acid helps in the construction of RNA -ribonucleic acid- which is useful for the growth of new cells. It helps in fetal brain development so pregnant women should take it
· Riboflavin helps in the health of the skin and mucous membranes. This also you can get in your multivitamin
· Thiamine lack brings about a condition known as beriberi. A small lack brings about skin problems or nerve dysfunction.- numbness and tingling. A multivitamin provides enough thiamine.
